The best U.S. cities where it’s good to live

Many beautiful places in America are ready to compete for the “Best City” title. But when compiling the rating, they consider indicators such as housing affordability, real estate prices by state, availability of well-paid jobs, and developed infrastructure. So which American city came in first place?

According to the latest report from U.S. magazine. News & World Report This year, Austin was recognized as the best place to live in the United States. Again. For the third year in a row, the capital of Texas tops the list among 125 densely populated metropolitan areas in the United States. The leading indicators of success were:

  • The labor market.
  • Quality of life.
  • Choice of citizens.
  • Significance.
  • Balance of migration (the difference between the number of moves closer to the metro area and from it).

“The very, very city.” Why is Austin #1 again? Known worldwide as the “Live Music Capital,” Austin scores points with musicians who flock here from other communities and local bands.

It also scores points for its vibrant culinary scene and accessibility to outdoor activities at more than 250 parks. In addition, the city maintains its leadership thanks to its high net migration rate. This fun city, whose unspoken motto is “Keep Austin Weird,” saw massive population growth as millennials moved here, searching for a warmer climate and opportunities to work for tech giants like Apple, Google, Facebook, Intel, and Samsung.

One “but” But it’s not all about the warming sun over Austin. This influx of young property buyers has caused a significant increase in property values. “We’ve seen Austin real estate prices rise as these large companies move their headquarters here,” says the director and co-founder of Homads.com, an Austin real estate agency. Although the average cost of real estate in Austin reaches $390,000, it remains more affordable to live in than in other cities included in the TOP 10.

For example, No. 7 San Francisco’s average property price rose to $1.4 million, making it the most expensive city in California, while properties in Seattle, Washington, ranked No. 9, averaged $669,000. The Dark Side of Popularity Another often-overlooked downside to famous Austin, according to official reports, is traffic congestion in the metro area. The city faces a significant challenge in solving traffic congestion by improving public transport while maintaining a high quality of life.
